Sikorsky S52-3 four-seat helicopter. 1952 model. N9329R; S/N 128616. This helicopter was completely rebuilt in 1992 and has only 150 hours since its rebuild. Has its Airworthiness Certificate. TTSN: 2237 hrs. With a few obvious differences, this helicopter is similar to the Hummingbird 300L.
Background: The Sikorsky S52-3 was acquired by Vertical Aviation Technologies (VAT), who adapted the helicopter to meet the Experimental requirements. VAT renamed it the Hummingbird 300L and it became their model for the VAT line.
Feature List (highlights):
1. Lycoming IO-540 6-cyliner 305hp Engine with cold air induction, rebuilt 1992, last started 2019 (this was the helicopter’s most recent flight)
2. Dual Controls
3. Pneumatic 2-axis trim system
4. Fully enclosed cab with 3 doors
5. Lighting (landing, anti-collision, position, interior)
6. 3-bladed aluminum main rotor blades
7. Avionics (Bendix KY-97A transceiver, transponder, 4-position intercom)
8. New fuel line (boxed, ready to install)
9. Includes manuals, logs
10. Detachable dolly wheels and tow bar
11. Includes original airframe parts, wheels, stabilator, etc (removed by VAT to accommodate modifications)
Flight Readiness: The only known steps required to put the helicopter in flying condition is installation of the new fuel line and a current Annual (Condition Inspection). Otherwise, a qualified mechanic must determine what else, if anything, is needed.
This helicopter has always been stored indoors (hangared). It is in good condition inside and out, with no structural damage (there’s a small easily repaired hole in windscreen). Located in Michigan. Ready for pickup or shipment anywhere in the world. Owner is selling because of loss of chief mechanic and absence of local expertise.
